Luke & Bonnie McDermott Christmas Party

So this weekend was absolutely insane! Friday night was when we found out my Uncle Keith had died, and so we went over to my parents house and we were watching Rylee open his birthday presents as he had an 8 hour final on the day of his real birthday (Dec 18) He is now done with Law School until January 12. He has been studying like crazy.

Thursday a lady from my ward called me and asked me if I would sing a song for her in Relief Society, it is called The Inn Keeper from the Forgotten Carols.I wasn't very familiar with the song, but I told her I would do it any way. I practiced with her on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and when it came time to sing it, I felt pretty good about it. I miss singing/performing so it's nice when I can do it once in awhile. Any way so I practiced on Saturday and then Ty needed to finish up his Christmas shopping so he ran and did that while Kaili and I played school in her bedroom, it was quite entertaining.
Then we went to Sweet Tomatoes with Larry and Kay and then back home for a little bit and then we went over to my parents to watch BYU lose in thier Bowl Game. Sad. I searched with my parents for about an hour to try and find decent flights to California for the funeral. It just wasn't happening and so I decided not to go. Then my parents were able to find some flights for those who were still going to go to the funeral. We ordered pizza from Papa Johns' and my mom and I went to go get it, as I was walking out with four pizza boxes I slipped on some ice and landed on my left knee and foot. Nice. I am ok, just a little sore. Then my mom and I went to the grocery store to get some things.
Sunday I got up, went and practiced the Inn Keeper song, went to Choir Practice, had church, ran over to Ty's parents house to eat his brother's birthday dinner, ran back to the church for Tithing Settlements, ran home to get things for the party, and then went back to my moms house, it was pretty crazy! My parents did a great job throwing the party together and we had a lot of fun.
Bethanie, Roury and Johnny gave Bethanie this Taylor Swift Barbie, she loves it because it sings her favorite song" Tear Drops on my Guitar" she wants me to play this song over and over from my Ipod. Rylee & Katie got Kaili a Hannah Montana sticker maker that she loves. And Luke & Fernanda got her a polly pocket and accessories, which she also loves. My mom and dad gave her Hannah Montana and Lily Barbies, as well as Oliver Ken Doll, she got some Hannah Montana clothes for her Build-A-Bear Zela also a guitar for Zela. Then she got a cute outfit.

Karson was so tired, but he wanted to be a part of the party, he was happy and smiling, enjoying watching everyone. Bethanie, Roury and Johnny got him a very cute toy with this monkey on it that Karson kept grabbing at, Luke and Fernanda also got him a cute toy and Rylee and Katie gave him some much needed new pajamas ( he is wearing 9 months now). Mom and Dad got him a walker ( that we haven't opened yet) and a new outfit. He just stared at the wrapping paper more than anything. Next year he will enjoy Christmas a lot more!

My mom also got these pillows and made pillowcases for Keith, Kyle and Kaili and she told a story about how we should give presents to Jesus. We each had a little stocking with our name on it and wrote down something we can give to Jesus this year. Next year we will see what we wrote and if we did it, and write something new. She made Karson a blanket instead of a pillowcase and it is very cute. I will post that later. Kaili LOVES her pillow. She loves blankets and soft things, she sleeps with a lot of blankets on her bed.

My sweetie pie playing with some ribbon and chilling in Grandma Bonnie's walker she keeps at her house.

Keith and Kaili. Best Buddies.

Kyle playing with the art desk and supplies that we got him. It was so cute. Poor little guy has to go in for some surgeries on the 30th. He just can't catch a break!

For dinner we had ham, cheesy potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, rolls, I made the Lion's House Sarah Salad and Johnny made some Devlied eggs that were really good. My mom made her sugar cookies for dessert and homemade hot fudge that no one ate, because it was so late...sorry mom! We played my Family Fued game and it was a lot of fun, last year the boys won, this year the girls did. Looks like I need to " modify" the game due to some comments I was given. The winners received a $5.50 movie pass ( thanks to the parents)Bethanie and Johnny did this way cool game where they made a Don't Forget the Lyric's type game to Christmas songs. It was so fun and very modern! The girls won this time and we got a free large popcorn voucher ( thanks parents again) We did a sibling present exchange and no one knew who had who until last night. Johnny had me and he got me a DVD I have been wanting FOREVER! The Deluxe version of "You've Got Mail" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan! I adore this movie! Roury had Ty and got him a very cute blue zip up sweater thing from Ty's fave store IZOD.
My parents got us season tickets to Desert Star Playhouse for 2009 which I am very excited about! Then Ty got a new Braves shirt, and a $25 iTunes gift card and a new bag to put his video camera in as we do not have one. And I got 5 new picture frames. That is what I asked for because I needed more! Thanks so much mom and Dad for a fun party amongst sad and hard times for our family and extended family right now. I am truly so thankful for the Savior and the role that he plays in my life. It seems when tragedy happens we realize how much we take for granted every day!
