McDermott Halloween Party Part 1

We had our annual Halloween Party at my mom's this past weekend. It was lots of fun! We had taco soup, white bean chicken chili, rolls, veggie tray, chips and salsa, rootbeer, and my moms famous cream cheese and chocolate chip cupcakes! Kaili looks forward to this every year and I know Karson will now as well, that he understands it more. Karson is so cute when he says "trick or treat" it sounds more like " ick or treat" and now whenever he sees a pumpkin or any Halloween thing he tells me " ick or treat" it's so fun.

Harry Potter and Cho Chang! I have to say they were a great Harry Potter couple! Rylee had us all laughing with his spells!
Packer Fan Grandma and Kaili!
Karson didn't want to be in this picture appparently...

Pirate Bethanie and I
Captain Johnny Black Beard and his pirate princess...Bethanie and Johnny always have great costumes for Halloween!

Cho Chang and pregnant Farmer BreeAnn...

Papa and Karson!
My cute family, not the greatest pictures of all of us, but it works!

McDermott Family Halloween Party Part 2

So after we had dinner, Bethanie had planned a fun pirate treasure hunt for the kids, to find Johnny Blackbeard's bones! It was SO AWESOME! The kids loved it and Bethanie did a great job!
One of the games was wrapping each other up in toilet paper like mummies, the kids had a blast with this one.
Katie wrapped up Rylee really good!
Here is Tyler wrapping up Kaili like a mummy...

The first game the kids had to find all the bones to the Skeleton hidden around the house, then they put together this skeleton. They collected pieces of the hat at different games and at the end put them on the skeleton. Johnny Blackbeard came to life and brought them each a Halloween book, Johnny did such a good job as the pirate we told him he should work at Disneyland! :)

Bethanie made all these cool papers with instructions and stories for each game, it was so cool!

One of the games she had set up! They also went fishing in a " bat cave", made candy corn and spider crafts, went on a "waterfall ride" and found jewels! Thanks Bethanie you are a great Aunt!

Halloween Costumes

This year for Halloween Kaili was a cute cowgirl! Her mom made the costume for her and I thought it turned out really cute! We had my Parent's annual Hallowen party this past Friday night so this is when we did all of our picture taking. However these pictures are before the party. Karson is supposed to be a dog this year as you will see below, but decided he wanted to wear his " baseball" shirt and hat instead.
Cute cowgirl Kaili! :)

Karson the baseball player...
Karson the dog, he wore this costume for about 2 minutes and allowed me to take some pictures. In all fairness it does kind of pull on his head and neck a little tight, so I know he doesn't like it on for very long, and the head is pretty heavy, so if we put the head thing down, it still pulls on the costume up by his neck!
Still, he is a pretty dang cute dog! :)

Karson's New Bed!

So for the past couple of weeks, Karson had decided he was too big for his crib and wanted to start sleeping on the floor. Every night I have to lay by him to get him to sleep, and my back and hips were on fire. I decided it was time we get him a new bed. So Saturday we went to RC Willey and got a killer deal on a mattress. We are going to be using Tyler's bed frame from when he was a kid, for the bed, we just need to go and get it. Any way we found this cute ball bedding at Smith's Market Place for 50% off, and got it.
Karson loves his new bed, although I think he is adjusting. It takes us QUITE some time to get him to go to sleep, because he just wants his lights on to look at books. He wakes up quite a bit in the middle of the night too and runs down the hall into our room, and I have to get up and take him back to bed, he will usually fall asleep pretty fast again, but then wake up an hour later and do the same thing. So I am hoping after he gets used to the bed, that this will change.

He likes to throw everything off his bed and jump on it! I can't believe my baby is big enough for a big boy bed. When Ty was taking down the crib I got a little teary eyed thinking that Karson will never be small enough for a crib again. They grow so fast!

Being a Mom is.....

Being a mom is......getting up every 2 hours because you are desinged to hear your babies cry no matter how loud or soft it may be

Being a mom is....getting your child a drink in the middle of the night because they are thirsty.....

Being a mom is laying on the hard floor next to your child, because they decide they want to sleep on thier floor tonight and that is the only way they will go to sleep

Being a mom is watching Mickey Mouse Club House, Chuggington, Cars, Elmo, Bambi, and anything else over Gray's Anatomy

Being a mom is picking up toys over and over and over, because it makes your child happy

Being a mom is letting your child cry at the grocery store, because they want to buy every toy that they see and you tell them no, so you watch those big, real tears fall down thier face, and you feel bad, but you can't back down...

Being a mom is running up and down the stairs a thousand times a day because you grabbed the wrong blankey and the wrong stuffed animal

Being a mom is going outside to watch your child ride a bike, even when you have dinner to make, laundry to do and cleaning inside, you let it wait, because at the moment it doesn't seem so important

Being a mom is experiencing your child say new words, sing new songs, dance around the house, give you hugs for no reason, and knowing that no matter what you do wrong in the world, right now at this moment your child loves you no matter what

Being a mom is hard, it is exhausting, it makes your body ache. But being a mom is also happiness, joy, laughter and love!

Moms...WE ARE AWESOME!!!!! And on a side note I get to find out what I am having on Friday November 12!!! Yay!

Wheeler Farm

Last week was a long, tiring week for us! Tyler didn't feel good all week and Thursday night/Friday morning it started to hit him even worse! So after Ty started feeling better, we decided we wanted to do something " fallish" with the kids. First we went to dinner at this pizza place over at The District called " Sweet Home Chicago Pizza" It was way good! We had a family deal for a salad, cheese bread and large pizza all ofr $20. The kids loved it and so did we. We will for sure be going back! Ty's parents met us there for dinner as well, and then we all treked over to Wheeler Farm. The kids got to ride with Gma and Gpa to Wheeler Farm. I remember as a kid I always wantd to ride in my grandparent's cars too, so I don't mind when they do because I know it's fun for them.
At Wheeler Farm the kids got to feed some ducks, go on a hay ride, do a cute kid corn maze and pick a pumpkin at the end of the maze. Karson was free and Kaili was only $7 to do all of that! They had a great time, and it was fun because Gma and Gpa were there with us! I love fall and I am glad we were able to get out and do something together as a family. Karson loves when Kaili is with us and he likes to copy everything that she does. ( He also likes to steal her toys, but that is a story for another time :))

Feeding the ducks with Papa

These ducks were crazy! They just started swarming Larry and nipping at the bag and ripping it!
Daddy and the kids in the corn maze!
Kaili selecting her " perfect" pumpkin! Believe me it took awhile!

Karson doing what Kaili is doing!
Posing by theses cute pumpkins at the end of the corn maze!

Love these kids!

Check it out!

Check out these CUTE Halloween blocks I made at my mom-in-law's over the weekend! I loved how they turned out. Thanks Kay for the vinyl and paint, and Larry for the wood! Karson was such a good helper while I made these, he played with his cars, and even help me put on the letters!

I made these BOO blocks like 2 years ago, but I never finished them, so I finally finished them over the weekend. I love how these turned out too! The ribbon I got at the $1 store and the stickers from the $1 section at Target, the $1 store and Wal-Mart!

Kay gave each of us one of these cute little chalkboards! You can write words on the black center with some special markers, and then you can change out the bow color to match each season or month! Thanks so much Kay! Love it!

Kars was eating yogurt and insisted I take a picture of him! So of course I did. Who can resist those baby blue eyes? This weekend I made 2 things I had never made before, white bean chicken chili, which turned out very good, and red velvet cupcakes ( although I made the batter blue instead of red) Ty's mom said they might be the best cupcakes she had ever tasted, that made me feel good! Love making new things and having them work out!
