" I like morphine..."

The above quote is what Ty kept saying at the ER once they gave him some morphine to help his pain subside. It was quite funny....

My life has been insane, so I haven't had time to post about Ty's gallbladder attack and surgery. On Tuesday December 29 at about 1:00 am Tyler woke up with some really bad pain. He was tossing and turning, throwing up and didn't know what to make of it. Finally at around 2 am he decided we needed to go to the ER. Tyler never wants to go to the Dr. so I knew he must be in some major pain. My mom came over to stay with Kaili and Karson and we headed over to Riverton Hospital. They got him right in, which was nice. At first we thought he might be having a heart attack, because he was in agony. They did a chest x-ray and his heart and arteries looked good. They had to call in thier oncall radiologist to do the ultrasound. That took forever! Finally we figured out the pain was gallstones, and quite a few of them, like 15 to 20. They sent him home with some pain meds and told us to call a surgeon the next day. We got home around 6:00 am, Karson woke up at 6:45.

Tuesday we met with the surgeon and schedule the surgery for Monday January 4. Tyler was really sore the whole week and we couldn't really figure out why. It hurt when he would take a big breath. We survived the week and Tyler ate really healthy so as to not upset his gallbladder.

Monday they called us to come in at 8:15 instead of 10:15 so we thought this would speed things up. Not really. Tyler went into surgery at 11:30 and didn't come back to the room until about 3:00. Turns out his gallbladder was severly inflamed and that is why it took longer to get everything out. Also the surgeon retrieved all of the stones. I was able to read a whole book in peace and quiet, while I was waiting for him, the chairs weren't so comfortable, but hey I got to read. I was glad when they told me everything went well, I am one of those crazy people that always imagine the worst outcomes, and let my mind wander....

Last week Ty was pretty sore, but each day he got stronger and stronger and he is doing great! Now he and I both don't have our gallbladders....wierd!

I am glad he is on the mend, that is strange you both don't have your gallbladders! Hurray for modern medicine!

I'm glad he's doing better. That must have sucked. I remember when Erika had her gall stone attack. She was starting to go into shock from the pain. It was not fun. I'm glad they were able to figure it out and that he's doing better.

I'm so glad that he is doing good now and it wasn't something worse (like the heart attack you feared). I too always think the worst and Doug won't allow me to google symptoms of things anymore because of it.
That is crazy you have both got your gallbladders out. What are the odds.
