Crazy Life....

Sunday we decided to take a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Silver Lake and eat a picnic lunch. It was a bit colder up there than we expected, but it felt great to be outside in the fresh air. Karson was loving life, looking around and exploring. I can't wait to take him camping next year, he will love it.
As always I love seeing the beautiful fall leaves change colors! It's so gorgeous!

Kaili eating her staple, cheese, mayo and bread sandwich, silly girl. She harldy eats any meat now days, I would almost call her a vegetarian. She loves dairy products though so she will never give those up. Funny story. Lately when we have had Kaili she has been waking up quite a bit throughout the night. It is really hard, because every time she wakes up, she wakes up Karson, and we all go with out a lot of sleep. This weekend was no exception, if not worse. She would get out of bed every couple of hours, tell us she needs something, and then say " she doesn't remember what she needs" Sunday morning Tyler and I were SPENT, I told her that we needed a plan for her to stay in bed. So later that night like 6 hours after I had said that, when we were in the car and she goes " So mom have you thought of a plan yet?" and I was like what, and she goes " you know for keeping me in bed". Ha, I thought that was soo funny.

Cutie Pie Karson. Poor guy, he has a had a cold since last Tuesday! His shots did a number on him this time. Which by the way he weighs 27.6 pounds, is 32 1/2 inches long and is in the 86% for height and weight.
My Grandma McDermott " Daddy-Daddy" passed away last Tuesday. He had been struggling from a stroke for 6 1/2 years. He was a great man, and I am honored to be his grand-daughter. He gave so much service throughout his life, he was known as Mr. Christmas in his neighborhood. He never judged anyone and loved all kinds of people. I have missed him for a long time, but have fond memories of him. My mom made the above Christmas tree in his honor, it was so cute, ( sorry it's upside down, forgot to switch it). The viewing was on Friday night, and the funeral was on Saturday. Saturday was A LONG day. Karson was SOOO tired and didn't feel good, so you can imagine how that went. It's really cool, because my Grandpa is buried really close to Easton. The funeral was really good, and they had bagpipes playing through out the services. Below is what I wrote in the guest book online at Deseret News
Dear Grandma,
Daddy-Daddy was an extra special man. I remember growing up we would always want to see the hole in his back from the bomb shrapnel that injured him. I am so proud of the war Veteran that he is and the sacrifice he made for his country.
I remember he would always say " Now there's the prettiest grand-daughter in the whole world" even though I knew he said that to all of us, it still made me feel special.
I was lucky enough to see him a couple of days before he had his stroke, he came into my work wearing jeans, a red jacket and a comb in his back pocket. As he waited for my Dad to come out and greet him, he combed his hair, just like he always had. These little memories mean so much to me.
I love Christmas, just like Daddy-Daddy and just like my own Dad. Not a Christmas goes by where I don't think about you and Daddy-Daddy. Pace Bars, push pops, silver hair, 4th of July parties, Christmas parties, Birthdays when you guys would come to our house, beautiful Christmas presents, wrapped by Grandma of course, Christmas songs, fairy stories, green bath tub, perfume room, will always be things that remind me of the two of you.
I always had a sense growing up that you guys always did service for others, not until I got older did I ever realize how much! What an example you both are to the legacy you have created.
To Daddy-Daddy- I love you. I have missed you for 6 1/2 years while you have struggled with the trials of the stroke. But I remember those warm eyes, the bright smile, and kind heart, and that is what I hold in my own heart. When I would come to visit you and you looked in my eyes, somehow I felt for a just moment that you knew who I was!
To Grandma and my Dad, and all of my wonderful aunts and uncles I love you all and I am so sorry for your loss, but for me I know that my precious son Easton was greeted by my wonderful grandfather with a huge embrace and warm smile and that is a comfort to me.
Love you all,
BreeAnn McDermott Fankhauser

Thursday was our annual McDermott Company & Associates client appreciation golf tournament. It was held at Valley View Golf Course. The weather was perfect. Bethanie, Brandee and I handed out muffins, trail mix and fruit snacks to all of the people that came by. It was a fun day and nice to be out of the office!

Sorry to hear about your grandpa, but what a blessing he is home now. Poor Karson, Kayleigh has had a cold too.

My daughter is in that phase of only eating cheese and not being much of a meat person. I tease her that she is a veggie too. :)
And again, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. I hope everyone is doing okay.
