Dear Grandma,
Daddy-Daddy was an extra special man. I remember growing up we would always want to see the hole in his back from the bomb shrapnel that injured him. I am so proud of the war Veteran that he is and the sacrifice he made for his country.
I remember he would always say " Now there's the prettiest grand-daughter in the whole world" even though I knew he said that to all of us, it still made me feel special.
I was lucky enough to see him a couple of days before he had his stroke, he came into my work wearing jeans, a red jacket and a comb in his back pocket. As he waited for my Dad to come out and greet him, he combed his hair, just like he always had. These little memories mean so much to me.
I love Christmas, just like Daddy-Daddy and just like my own Dad. Not a Christmas goes by where I don't think about you and Daddy-Daddy. Pace Bars, push pops, silver hair, 4th of July parties, Christmas parties, Birthdays when you guys would come to our house, beautiful Christmas presents, wrapped by Grandma of course, Christmas songs, fairy stories, green bath tub, perfume room, will always be things that remind me of the two of you.
I always had a sense growing up that you guys always did service for others, not until I got older did I ever realize how much! What an example you both are to the legacy you have created.
To Daddy-Daddy- I love you. I have missed you for 6 1/2 years while you have struggled with the trials of the stroke. But I remember those warm eyes, the bright smile, and kind heart, and that is what I hold in my own heart. When I would come to visit you and you looked in my eyes, somehow I felt for a just moment that you knew who I was!
To Grandma and my Dad, and all of my wonderful aunts and uncles I love you all and I am so sorry for your loss, but for me I know that my precious son Easton was greeted by my wonderful grandfather with a huge embrace and warm smile and that is a comfort to me.
Love you all,
BreeAnn McDermott Fankhauser
Thursday was our annual McDermott Company & Associates client appreciation golf tournament. It was held at Valley View Golf Course. The weather was perfect. Bethanie, Brandee and I handed out muffins, trail mix and fruit snacks to all of the people that came by. It was a fun day and nice to be out of the office!
